When I minuted 22127
I had no data for knowing how the $1100 for Contingencies would be made up if $800 be expended, but even if it were ultimated to $760 the proposed initial salary of the Clerk would not make his salary very exorbitant.
Though W. Nicolle does not draw anything (as I thought he did) from Imperial Funds, I think he is liberally paid at $4000, which may be said to be at least equal to £600 (When the salaries were fixed, the Governor estimated £1=$8 and of course the dollar has since risen)
